I decided to start keeping track of all the spam I get as comments to pages here on Makify.com. I hope this can be helpful to anyone wanting to verify if a comment on their blog is spam. Some of this spam can be pretty funny. I’ve included the author’s name but have left out links otherwise the spammers win and we don’t want that. I will continually update this page as I get more spam. Read on…

Bike Tire Belt
I needed a new belt and had an old bike tire laying around so I decided to turn that tire into a “new” belt. All I needed was a an old bicycle tire, a box cutter, a rubber mallet, a punch set, a rivet set, a belt buckle, and some rivets. The belt looks great, performs well, and ended up being very inexpensive. Plus, reusing materials is always a good thing. A win-win-win! Read on…
Share This:Security Tag Removal
I got a dress shirt for my birthday but they forgot to take the security ink tag off of the shirt at the store. This shirt was not stolen and I could have taken the shirt back to the store and had them remove the tag for me but, the store was far away and I thought I could remove it myself. I will show you how I did it. This general method should work for other types of security tags too. Please, do NOT steal clothing. Stealing is bad. Read on…
Share This:Aquarium Lamp Stand
I acquired a large, odd shaped, glass jar that I thought would make a cool aquarium. Due to the strange shape, a traditional aquarium hood/light combo would not work on this aquarium. I decided that a cheap aluminum 8.5″ clamp light would work well but I needed a way to hang it over the tank so I designed and build this simple wooden stand. This lamp stand can be completed easily and cheaply. Read on…
Share This:Checkbook Register
Recently I used up all the lines in my check register for my checking account. You usually get a new one when you order new checks but I won’t need to order checks for a while and I didn’t have an extra register laying. I went to several stores trying to buy a new register but I could not find any. Then it dawned on me that I could easily make one from a spreadsheet. This is how I did it and I’ve also included the file for download. Read on…
Share This:Disable Touchpad – Quick and Dirty Method
I got a new laptop the other day and installed Debian Squeeze (“testing” as of this writing) with Gnome 2.26 as a second OS. As I began typing, the cursor would occasionally jump to random spots causing havoc to my typing. I hate touchpads in general so I use a USB mouse for all my mousing needs. There are software solutions to this problem but I could not get any of these to work so I came up with a quick and dirty fix. Read on…

The NiCd batteries for my old Craftsman 18Volt cordless drill finally died and I have been unable to fix them (yet). I figured out that a new drill would cost about the same as 2 new batteries so, I went shopping for a new cordless drill. I did a TON of homework, checked out a bunch of different drills, and finally decided on the Craftsman NEXTEC 12Volt Lithium-ion drill. What follows is my review of that drill after using it for several months. Read on…
